Chang's favorite target will not play this weekend due to Owens missing team flight home from Vegas. I also think Rice might expose Hawaii's weakness on defense and hang just enough points on them to cover the +22. Any thoughts?

Owens is just a showboater who had one breakout game vs. BYU. His replacement, frosh Ross Dickerson, is faster with better hands. I was liking Rice alot, now with Dickerson in, I may just back off a bit. It wouldn't suprise me if Dickerson develops into another Ashlie Lelie and Owens never gets his job back.

Great observation there PPeter about Dickerson. He is a local boy just like Lelie is , but only difference is that he was recognized for his talent way before Lelie was. He was highly recruited out of H.S., and is being prep as a freshman by Jones to develop into the role of a star very quickly. I feel he will be the next Lelie, only difference is that he will be a better one. By the way, no loss with Owens out, got alot of hungry guys in the stable waiting for their shot.

Oh yeah, I'd watch out for this game guys. It has blowout written all over it. Home town fans alittle pissed by UNLV game that we should have won and Jone will be feeling the pressure to show he deserves all that money. Be careful.

I beg to differ about a blowout. Hawaii hasn't beaten the spread vs Rice since Jones took over. And this years edition hasn't proven it's any good. Granted Hawaii's front 4 are quite good but their LB's suck big time. They are slow and can't tackle for sh-t! Once Rice's RB's get past the line of scrimmage, it'll be all over. Wonder why Jones keeps "hooting up" Timmy Chang? He may have a quick release and all that stuff but he is NOT A LEADER! And he is still "Timid" Timmy and a very brittle QB. I may be wrong and would love to be proven wrong abut I seriously doubt that will happen. Unless changes are made by JOnes and his players, Hawaii will be headed for a mediocre season. I think I'll play Rice plus the points.

you are correct, gridman

Rice is the call. They came in on Wed. to acclimate (always a good idea) and qb Herm is now probable as is their gamebreaking w.r. Battle.

UH will be in a major dogfight unless Timmy finally has a perfect game (which I doubt). If Timmy goes all to shit and June doesn't have the stones to finally bench Timmy for Whieldon, UH could find themselves in a really CLOSE game. Hell, they could lose outright if Ah Yat continues to choke in the 4th qtr. (missed fgs and missed xps against USC and a KEY missed 30 yd fg against UNLV early in the 4th qtr).

Well Timmy came VERY CLOSE to having a perfect game, too many dropped passes, fault of the the receivers. Chad was definately missed as Dickerson was a non-factor.

Nevertheless, we get brunch at JD's tomorrow! Middled the game, thank you West for the late Td (and thanks Bows D for keeping Rice out of the ez on that last play)...
